John is a distinguished Intellectual Property & Registered patent/trademark attorney that has represented some of the top companies in the world and is a Partner at the Rhema Law Group.  In particular, John has been instrumental in protecting, developing, and enforcing the IP rights of countless Asian American businesses & entrepreneurs spanning his 17 years of practice.  Among the legal industry, John has earned some of the highest accolades for his work, including being honored as a Thomson Reuters Southern California Super Lawyer® since 2012 and a World Trademark Review (WTR) 1000 selection, which is given to the top worldwide trademark professionals.

Within the community, John has donated his time in serving on numerous boards, non-profits, and charities including the Orange County Asian Bar Association (OCAABA), National Conference of Vietnamese American Attorneys (NCVAA), Vietnamese American National Gala (VANG), and the Teen Leadership Foundation (which empowers and provides programs to underprivileged teens in the foster care system).  John is also a frequent speaker on intellectual property law issues and is active in taking on pro-bono matters and helping educate and support small businesses and community-based organizations such as AHN and Slant’d Magazine.  Fun Fact:  John helped trademark & protect the AHN name!

One of his 2021 goals is to work with his local church (Mariners Church in Newport Beach, CA) to setup a legal ministry to help support the surrounding community by providing free legal seminars and programs and help encourage entrepreneurship with a purpose driven mindset.  John is happily married to his wife Rosalind (who is a better lawyer than him) and proud father of twins, Mackenzie & Connor.
