Karl founded RYSE Network (Formerly Subtle Asian Networking) in 2018, which now has more than 60,000 members. Through being conscious of his own intersecting identities, Karl realized the complexities and nuances of humans based on identity, and now actively tries to create space for marginalized individuals. Through RYSE, Karl hopes to provide a safe space for members to look through the lens of decolonisation and grow in various aspects of their careers and professional lives. RYSE creates networking opportunities for members to connect in person, as well as receive support from the community with different initiatives, such as AUP which had 100+ volunteers supporting elderly, immunocompromised, and disabled individuals during COVID.
