Asian Artists: BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, Bella Poarch bag awards at the 2022 iHeartRadio Music

The iHeartRadio Music Awards 2022 honored the most played artists on their radio stations and app during the year, and the Asian artists were thriving!

K-pop boy band BTS and Filipino-American artists Olivia Rodrigo, Bella Poarch, Bruno Mars, and Korean American rapper Anderson Paak received several awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.

Olivia Rodrigo won the awards for the Female Artist of the Year and the Best New Pop Artist categories against fellow Female Artist of the Year nominees Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, and Taylor Swift. The 19-year-old also won the fan-voted TikTok Bop of the Year award for her hit song “Good 4 U.”

For five consecutive years, fans voted for the world-renowned K-pop boy band BTS to win the Best Fan Army. BTS’ music video for their 2021 hit song “Butter” also won against artists like Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, The Weekend, and Ed Sheeran.

Bella Poarch won the Social Star Award. The Filipino-American social media star has 88.4 million followers, the third most popular TikTok account in the world.

R&B duo Silk Sonic made up of Filipino-American Bruno Mars and Korean-American rapper Anderson Paak, won categories Best Duo/Group of the Year, R&B Album of the Year, and R&B Song of the Year for their hit “Leave The Door Open.”
