Reel8 and Jeremy Lin Launch First Exclusive Linsanity NFT To Uplift Underrepresented Asian American Filmmakers

“I have personally experienced how difficult it can be to have our stories underrepresented, I am excited to give fans an opportunity to support their favorite filmmakers while also supporting crucial youth programs for our community.” – Jeremy Lin

“Linsanity” director Evan Jackson Leong and Jeremy Lin have cooperated to offer a limited run of collectible, digital Jeremy Lin NFTs with Reel8, an innovative web3 platform for underrepresented filmmakers to engage new and existing audiences

100% of the sale proceeds will benefit the Jeremy Lin Foundation, a non-profit that supports impoverished AAPI and cross-racial youth programs through narrative transformation, community empowerment, and cross-racial solidarity.

The Linsanity NFT drop includes a never-before-seen director’s cut of the film as well as behind-the-scenes footage of the Lin family. Linsanity is an award-winning documentary film that follows the rise and achievement of Asian American NBA basketball star Jeremy Lin, as well as the hardships and racism he has faced.

Fans of the basketball sensation will be able to unlock unique metaverse content by holding a Linsanity NFT on the Reel8 platform, including a high-stakes three-point shooting contest in which token holders fight for the chance to meet Lin in a live AMA.

Reel8 Co-Founder Dave Liu believes that this project will set a new standard by enabling underrepresented filmmakers to reach new and existing fans of their art through direct engagement with members of their audience, while simultaneously supporting social causes like the Jeremy Lin Foundation.

Through their partnership, Lin and Reel8 Co-Founder Dave Liu aim to close the gap in equity that Asian American filmmakers often face.
