‘Big Hero 6’s Cuddly Super-Robot Baymax Returns For A Disney+ Spinoff Series

The adorable, inflatable healthcare companion in Big Hero 6 is back protecting the world on June 29 on Disney+.

Returning to the fantasy metropolis of San Fransokyo, each episode of the Disney+ Original series sees the healthcare bot-slash-superhero use his new special powers to aid citizens in need.

Baymax! will feature the return of several cast members from Big Hero 6, including Scott Adsit as Baymax, Ryan Potter as Hiro, and Maya Rudolph as Aunt Cass.

The Academy Award winner for Best Animated Movie teamed Baymax and Hiro as part of the techy superhero team Big Hero 6, consisting of San Fransokyo Institute of Technology students Go Go (Jamie Chung), Wasabi (Damon Wayans Jr.), Fred (T.J. Miller), and Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez). After a three-season run of the Disney XD an animated spin-off, the show ended in 2021.

The first Baymax! trailer revealed the series would center around Baymax assisting those in need. “Each episode, we meet a new character: a patient that Baymax is gonna help,” series creator Don Hall shared in a press release calling the inflatable robot “a hero for the times” because of his “single-minded devotion to just helping people.”

Baymax! is produced by Roy Conli and Bradford Simonsen, and directed by Dean Wellins, Lissa Treiman, Dan Abraham, and Mark Kennedy. The show is written by Cirocco Dunlap.
